The Whitehouse Wildcats and the Melissa Cardinals squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Whitehouse Wildcats had to settle for second. Whitehouse was outmatched by Melissa on the road and fell 49-21. While losing is never fun, Whitehouse can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Melissa is ranked 17th).
Despite the loss, Whitehouse still got an impressive performance from Jakob Carey, who threw for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
Whitehouse are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Melissa, Marshall, and Texas. As for Melissa, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
Whitehouse does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Melissa will face off against South Oak Cliff at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Oak Cliff is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
