The Morningside Monarchs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Beverly Hills Normans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
After a string of three wins, Morningside's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-20 loss at the hands of Leuzinger. Morningside has struggled against Leuzinger recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Beverly Hills stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 38-6 victory over Hawthorne. Given Beverly Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while Hawthorne is ranked 1238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Morningside's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for Beverly Hills, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.
Morningside and Beverly Hills were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting on January 10th, but Morningside came up empty-handed after a 47-46 defeat. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Beverly Hills' Mandy Kohanim, who scored 30 points. Now that Morningside knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
