Baseball Game Preview: Granada Matadors vs. Livermore Cowboys

For the second straight game, Granada will face off against Livermore. The Matadors will be playing at home against the Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Granada has four straight wins, Livermore has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Granada is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Livermore 18-4 on Wednesday. Considering the Matadors have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Alex Piscotty looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mikey Boyd was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024. Estevan Duarte was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Granada was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Granada's victory bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Livermore, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Granada has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Livermore struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts.
