It was a good run, but The Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 20-19 to Mayer Lutheran. Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity lost against Mayer Lutheran in their previous head to head back in October, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 34-26 score last time.
Mayer Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jack Grimsley led the charge by rushing for 163 yards and a touchdown. Grimsley is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Woestehoff, who rushed for 76 yards.
Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Mayer Lutheran, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mayer Lutheran will square off against Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa at TBD on Friday. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
