After a string of ten wins, the Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost to Thomas Jefferson on the road by a decisive 61-46 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lake Lure Classical Academy has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Lake Lure Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Da'Zirus Watkins, who scored 20 points along with five steals. Watkins is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Andre Staley was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Lake Lure Classical Academy's loss ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-1. As for Thomas Jefferson, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3.
Lake Lure Classical Academy and Veritas Christian Academy will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Thomas Jefferson will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Cherryville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Cherryville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday.
