The Fillmore Flashes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Carpinteria 62-27. Fillmore was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-15.
Several Flashes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrea Ramirez, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Ramirez pulled down eight or more rebounds. Jacqui Ordonez was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Fillmore bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for Carpinteria, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fillmore will stay at home for another game and welcome Hueneme at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Hueneme comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Carpinteria, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Malibu at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
