The Thousand Oaks Lancers will take on the Foothill Tech Dragons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, Thousand Oaks needed a bit of extra time to put away Calabasas. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Coyotes 10-9. With that victory, the Lancers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Dane Holt made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Sax, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was James Luderer, who went 2-for-6 with three RBI and one double.
Thousand Oaks kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Foothill Tech won against Bishop Diego on Tuesday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Dragons blew past the Cardinals 18-1. The game marked the Dragons' most dominant win of the season.
Like Thousand Oaks, Foothill Tech also got a great game from a two-way player: Rainen Tolentino. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Tolentino has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Shane White was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Davin Arth was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Foothill Tech and bumps their season record up to 12-13. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Thousand Oaks, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-12.
Foothill Tech's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Thousand Oaks has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Foothill Tech, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Thousand Oaks keep running through batters, or will the Dragons buck the trend?
Thousand Oaks beat Foothill Tech 6-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
