Baseball Game Preview: King's Academy Knights vs. Hillsdale Fighting Knights

The King's Academy Knights will square off against the Hillsdale Fighting Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

King's Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Scotts Valley 12-2 on Saturday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ryan Wheeler looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. King's Academy is 4-2 when Johnson posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nate Plata, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

King's Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Hillsdale brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They put the hurt on Washington with a sharp 12-1 victory on Saturday. The Fighting Knights haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Hillsdale now has a winning record of 11-10. As for King's Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-9.

King's Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Hillsdale in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 9-7. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Fighting Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
