The Las Plumas Thunderbirds won the last time they faced the Corning Cardinals, and things went their way on Friday too. Las Plumas walked away with a 36-28 victory over Corning. The win made it back-to-back wins for Las Plumas.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Las Plumas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Skylar Lewallen, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Olivares, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Las Plumas now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Corning, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Las Plumas will face off against Gridley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Gridley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 38 last Tuesday. As for Corning, they will head out on the road to take on Orland at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Orland's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Corning has been banged up by 14 consecutive losses on the road.
