Basketball Recap: Rebecca Hueske Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Shelby-Rising City

Nebraska Lutheran hadn't done well against Shelby-Rising City recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Nebraska Lutheran Knights walked away with a 41-31 victory over the Shelby-Rising City Huskies. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 39-37 loss the last time these two teams met.

Nebraska Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rebecca Hueske led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Hueske a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Schoen, who posted two points and 13 rebounds.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taya Pinneo, who had 17 points. Nicole Martensen was another key player, putting up two points and 11 boards.

Nebraska Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Shelby-Rising City, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
