Baseball Game Preview: Stephenson Jaguars vs. Stone Mountain Pirates

Stephenson has gone a perfect 5-0 against Stone Mountain recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Jaguars will look to defend their home field against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Stephenson is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

If Stephenson beats Stone Mountain with 15 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Jaguars didn't even let Cedar Grove on the board on Friday, marking the Jaguars' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by nine runs or more this season.

Miles Allen was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Allen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Stephenson is undefeated when Allen posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Blakelon McClammy was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Romando Craddock, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Stephenson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cedar Grove only posted an OBP of .273.

Meanwhile, Stone Mountain lost 16-3 to Mt. Zion on Tuesday.

Stephenson pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Stone Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8-1.

Stephenson took their win against Stone Mountain in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
