The Roosevelt Rough Riders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Hoover by a score of 48-38. That's another feather in the cap for Roosevelt, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Roosevelt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nyleigh Gregory led the charge by scoring 22 points. Gregory has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Sutherland, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Roosevelt's victory was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will face off against McLane at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. McLane will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 921st, while Roosevelt is ranked 350th). As for Hoover, they will head out on the road to challenge Sunnyside at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
