The Bay School is a perfect 10-0 against San Francisco Waldorf since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Breakers will look to defend their home field against the Wolverines at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The Bay School's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Drew with a sharp 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Breakers.
The Bay School got a massive performance out of Nate Won, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Won has posted since back in March. Terje Steele was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
The Bay School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Drew only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, San Francisco Waldorf made easy work of Gateway on Thursday and carried off a 14-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won four in a row.
Sam Appel made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has become a key player for San Francisco Waldorf: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 3-7 otherwise. Appel was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emiliano Martinez-Ortiz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. San Francisco Waldorf is 5-1 when Martinez-Ortiz posts two or more runs, but 0-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Yuumi Kakinuma, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
The Bay School's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for San Francisco Waldorf, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. The Bay School has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like San Francisco Waldorf struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
The Bay School took their victory against San Francisco Waldorf in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 10-2 score. Will the Breakers repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
