The Brentwood School Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Village Christian Crusaders at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Brentwood School came out on top against Viewpoint on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Eagles never let the Patriots get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Dean Hoshide made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Brentwood School is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 7-10 otherwise. Hoshide was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Beckett Hoffman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Kaplan, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Village Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Whittier Christian 1-0. The victory was some much needed relief for the Crusaders as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Not much got past Ryan French, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Whittier Christian off the board.
At the plate, Village Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dallas Young, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Brentwood School has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Village Christian, their record is now 10-11.
Village Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Brentwood School has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Village Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Brentwood School keep running through batters, or will the Crusaders buck the trend?
Brentwood School came up short against Village Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 8-4. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
