Our Lady of Good Counsel has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Academy of the Holy Cross Tartans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Our Lady of Good Counsel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
Our Lady of Good Counsel is ranked highly in their home state, and they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Knights. Everything went Our Lady of Good Counsel's way against the Knights as the Falcons made off with a 68-47 win.
Talayah Walker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Caliyah Devillasee, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, The Academy of the Holy Cross was the victim of a rough 72-47 loss at the hands of the Panthers on Friday. While losing is never fun, The Academy of the Holy Cross can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 61st in Maryland, while the Panthers are ranked 12th in Virginia).
Our Lady of Good Counsel's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Our Lady of Good Counsel against the Tartans when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 77-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Our Lady of Good Counsel since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
