Grand Island Lutheran gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They came out on top against the Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers by a score of 2-0. The win continues a trend for the Lightning in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

While Grand Island Lutheran won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 26-24.

Abby Van Bibber paced Grand Island Lutheran's offense, picking up six kills. Van Bibber got some help from Chloe Keasling and her 13 assists. Ema Koch controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Coincidentally, Grand Island Lutheran and Newman Grove/St. Edward will both be playing Harvard the next time they take the court. The Panthers will host the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Lightning will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
