Pueblo County had won four straight at home, but on Saturday they bumped up to 13-5 to make it five. They had just enough and edged out the Mead Mavericks 12-10. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hornets also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.
Kylie Paradiso looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Pueblo County let Aubree Peralta and Brooklyn Markus run wild. Peralta went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Markus went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Markus a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Mares, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Pueblo County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
As for Mead, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since September 3, 2024.
On Mead's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gianna Pacotti, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Kinley Bussard was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Pueblo County will challenge Frederick at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Hornets' pitcher better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Mead, they are on the road again on Saturday to play Pueblo West at 1:30 p.m. The Mavericks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cyclones have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
