Amador Valley and Granada are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Dons will be playing at home against the Matadors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Amador Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Amador Valley is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against San Ramon Valley on Friday. They came up short against the Wolves, falling 11-2. The loss continues a trend for the Dons in their meetings with the Wolves: they've now lost six in a row.
Amador Valley got a good showing from Elliot De La Torre, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. De La Torre has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Granada had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 4-1.
Mason Ravera looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Joey Marasco was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tommy Brown, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
Granada pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their 22nd straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Amador Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Both Amador Valley and Granada just can't seem to miss. The Dons have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Granada struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Amador Valley suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Granada in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Dons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
