The South El Monte Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Arroyo Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. South El Monte is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
South El Monte's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Rosemead with a sharp 6-0 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The result came thanks to Ryan Leon's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Armando Huizar, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Sanchez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Arroyo sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Marshall on Friday.
Not much got past Richard Inostroz, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Marshall off the board.
At the plate, Arroyo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Fonseca, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Arroyo has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for South El Monte, their record now sits at 18-7.
South El Monte was able to grind out a solid win over Arroyo in their previous matchup back in April, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
