After three games on the road, Georgetown Day is heading back home. They will take on the Banneker Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Georgetown Day is ranked third, while Banneker is ranked eighth).
Last Wednesday, Georgetown Day didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, but they still walked away with a 43-39 win.
Georgetown Day's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nevaeh Roberson, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Roberson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisyn Moore, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Banneker suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They suffered a tough 57-32 loss at the hands of Jackson-Reed. Banneker has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Banneker saw an underclassman step up: Promise Njoku scored 19 points along with four steals and two blocks. Njoku has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Rainelle McNeill was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Georgetown Day's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Banneker, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-5.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Georgetown Day hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 51.1 points per game. It's a different story for Banneker, though, as they've been averaging only 44.3 points per game. The only thing between Georgetown Day and another offensive beatdown is Banneker. Will they be able to keep them contained?
