The Washington Prexies can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Thursday. They strolled past Bentworth with points to spare, taking the game 63-45. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Washington has managed all season.
Washington was led to victory by Kaprice Johnson and Olivia Woods. Johnson scored 24 points along with six rebounds, while Woods scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Woods has scored at least 25% of Washington's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawnti Fuller, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Bentworth lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amber Sallee. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Kayla O'dell, who scored nine points.
Washington's win bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Bentworth, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Washington will be home for the holidays to greet Brownsville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Brownsville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Washington in Pennsylvania (Brownsville is ranked 124th, while Washington is ranked 398th). As for Bentworth, they will head out on the road to face off against Frazier at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Allie Yauch and Sallee.
