Softball Recap: Northside Wins Going Away Against Columbus

Northside won the last time they faced Columbus and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Patriots put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 13-1 win. Considering the Patriots have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Georgia Stokes looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Kylie Fridley was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Layla Phelps also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Northside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbus only posted an OBP of .118.

Northside's record is now 17-4. As for Columbus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.

Northside wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-0 victory against Griffin on the 25th. As for Columbus, they will square off against Lee County at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Blue Devils will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
