The Armstrong River Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 78-70 win over Mars. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Fightin' Planets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexis Cashdollar, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Carmella McDole was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Armstrong's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Mars, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Armstrong will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mars at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. As for Mars, they will head out on the road to face off against Shaler Area at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shaler Area is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
