Baseball Game Preview: Clarke Central Gladiators vs. Cedar Shoals Jaguars

Clarke Central is 9-1 against Cedar Shoals since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Clarke Central will head out to square off against Cedar Shoals at 5:30 p.m. Cedar Shoals took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Clarke Central, who comes in off a win.

Clarke Central's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Alcovy as Clarke Central made off with a 15-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gladiators.

Casper Emory was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Clarke Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 6-10 when he doesn't). Sam Williams was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Clarke Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Cedar Shoals was a bit more limited in their game two weeks ago. They came up short against Rockdale County, falling 15-2.

Cedar Shoals saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zac Pomeroy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits Pomeroy has posted since back in February of 2024. Another was Aiden Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Cedar Shoals' defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Clarke Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

Everything went Clarke Central's way against Cedar Shoals in their previous meeting on March 3rd, as Clarke Central made off with a 16-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clarke Central since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
