The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Wood is ranked 485th, while Fairfield is ranked 488th).
Wood posted their biggest win since December 28, 2023 on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 62-34 victory over Vacaville. With that victory, Wood brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.
Wood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Natalia Sanchez led the charge by scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Sanchez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Sa?nyah Stewart was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Fairfield blew past Armijo, posting a 52-21 win on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fairfield.
It was another big night for ZaRaya Porter, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Hebert, who scored five points along with eight steals and six assists.
Wood is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Fairfield, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
Wednesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Wood have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 33.2% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Fairfield, though, as they've only made 33% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
