The Montgomery Red Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They lost to Neumann Regional Academy on the road by a decisive 53-36 margin. Montgomery has not had much luck with the Golden Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Leading Neumann Regional Academy to victory were Lizzie Weller and GiGi Parlante. Weller dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Parlante dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Parlante has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shanniyah Tutler, who scored eight points along with six assists and three steals.
Montgomery has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Neumann Regional Academy, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montgomery will take on the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Neumann Regional Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Southern Columbia Area comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last eight games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
