At the plate, Ryan Whitson was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Andrew Nicklaus was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base.
Simi Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Torrey Pines only managed five.
Meanwhile, San Marcos didn't have quite enough to beat Cathedral Catholic on Monday and fell 4-3.
San Marcos also got a good showing from Carter Tsai, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Tsai has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Noah Sumner was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run.
