They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Girard Academic Music Program 19-17. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Leading Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush to victory were Mia Hernandez and Ka'Yonna Reeves. Hernandez scored seven points, while Reeves scored ten points.
Despite the loss, Girard Academic Music Program still got an impressive performance from Violet Brasby-Jones, who scored nine points. Laura Alfaro was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Girard Academic Music Program, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-2.
Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush will head out on the road to face off against West Philadelphia at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully West Philadelphia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Girard Academic Music Program, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Martin Luther King at 3:15 p.m.
