North Monterey County hasn't had much luck against Stevenson recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Condors will venture away from home to take on the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. North Monterey County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between North Monterey County and Everett Alvarez, and North Monterey County kept the tradition alive. The Condors had just enough and edged out the Eagles 11-10 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Condors have posted against the Eagles since April 17, 2023.
Huck Blanton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Cruz, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Stevenson ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Greenfield by a score of 6-3.
Phinn Thomas spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Reggie Bell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alex Wang, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
Stevenson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenfield only managed five.
North Monterey County's record now sits at 12-9. As for Stevenson, their record is now 15-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. North Monterey County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Stevenson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
North Monterey County might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Stevenson in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Condors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
