Basketball Recap: Fillmore Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Lucy Murillo and Hermelinda Ocegueda

Fillmore lost against Nordhoff back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Fillmore Flashes took a hard 36-22 fall against the Nordhoff Rangers.

Fillmore's loss came despite strong showings from Hermelinda Ocegueda and Lucy Murillo. Ocegueda posted five points along with 12 boards and four steals, while Murillo scored seven points and 11 rebounds. Ocegueda is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Jacqui Ordonez was another key player, putting up two points and three steals.

Cadence Renshaw was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 14 boards for Nordhoff. Those 14 rebounds gave Renshaw a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacaranda Shepard, who had six points and ten boards.

Fillmore's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-17. As for Nordhoff, they pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Fillmore will welcome Santa Paula at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Paula will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Fillmore surely won't give up without a fight. Nordhoff has already played their next game (against Hueneme), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
