Delta and Jay County are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Delta beats Jay County with ten runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Eagles didn't even let Daleville on the board on Friday, marking the Eagles' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Delta got a great performance from Ayden Mitchell as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Mitchell a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brady Williams, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Delta: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 8-9 otherwise. Eli Overholt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Delta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Jay County never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past Winchester Community 9-0.
Gavin Byrum and Andrew Schemenaur made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Byrum didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Schemenaur pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Byrum went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Schemenaur went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Joseph Geesaman and Kade Sommers did most of the damage at the plate: Geesaman went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Sommers went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That stolen base was Geesaman's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Foster, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Delta's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Jay County, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Delta hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Jay County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Delta got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Jay County by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
