After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Flintridge Prep, the Rio Hondo Prep Kares were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 49-38 victory over Providence. For Rio Hondo Prep, this counts as revenge for the 50-31 loss Providence walked away with the last time they faced one another on January 5th.
Rio Hondo Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydney Diaz, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Diaz has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Pollock, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Rio Hondo Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Providence, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rio Hondo Prep's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Westridge at 3:30 p.m. on January 25th. Westridge is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Providence, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against SEED: LA at 4:30 p.m. SEED: LA comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 14 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
