Manteca hasn't had much luck against Central Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Buffaloes will host the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Manteca is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
While Manteca's win against Oakdale wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Buffaloes skirted past the Mustangs 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Buffaloes have posted since March 7th.
Jimmy Burns looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Nate Slikker was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Central Catholic entered their tilt with Patterson on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Tigers.
Kayden McHenry was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off nine hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Broden Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Hudson Walker was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.
Central Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Patterson only posted a batting average of .286.
Central Catholic's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Manteca, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Manteca suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Buffaloes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
