On Saturday, Tulare Union ended up a good deal behind Shafter and lost 57-42. While losing is never fun, Tulare Union can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 559th, while Shafter is ranked 231st).
Despite the loss, Tulare Union still got an impressive performance from Kailee Gilbert, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Gilbert also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Savannah Tenhet was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
This is the second loss in a row for Tulare Union and nudges their season record down to 10-11. As for Shafter, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tulare Union will take on Mission Oak at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission Oak and Tulare Union are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Shafter, they will be playing at home against Kennedy at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
