Broomfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Eaglecrest, who was ranked eighth at the time (Broomfield was ranked first). The Eagles blew past the Raptors 14-1 on Monday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Serenity Molloy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lauren Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Broomfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive matchups.
Niwot hit Silver Creek with a four-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raptors took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The loss continues a trend for the Raptors in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.
Abby LaCrosse was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. LaCrosse was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
LaCrosse wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Lane, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Silver Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Broomfield, their win bumped their record up to 17-2.
Broomfield took their victory against Silver Creek in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 14-5 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Raptors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
