The Stockdale Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. Their rough 54-28 loss to Independence might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Stockdale has suffered against Independence since January 8, 2016.
Independence was led to victory by Olivia Fletcher and Kaylynn Bolden. Fletcher scored 17 points along with seven steals, while Bolden dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Bolden is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Castaneda, who scored ten points.
Stockdale bumped their record down to 2-15 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road. As for Independence, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-10.
Stockdale will head out on the road to face off against Garces Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Garces Memorial comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Independence, they will be playing at home against Bakersfield Christian at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Bakersfield Christian is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
