Bishop McCort and Bishop Guilfoyle are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but not for long. The Bishop McCort Crushers will be playing at home against the Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bishop McCort comes in on 16 and Bishop Guilfoyle on four.
It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Bishop McCort ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 67-63 win over Westmont Hilltop. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Gianna Gallucci was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Zucco, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Bishop Guilfoyle put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They breezed by Bald Eagle Area on the road to the tune of 46-19. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-6.
Bishop McCort pushed their record up to 16-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, their win bumped their record up to 17-1.
Bishop McCort came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Guilfoyle in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, sneaking past 53-51. Will Bishop McCort repeat their success, or does Bishop Guilfoyle have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
