Gilbert Classical Academy took a 43-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Miami. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gilbert Classical Academy in their matchups with Miami: they've now lost four in a row.
Miami found their leader in underclassman Tamia Pietila, who dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Pietila has scored at least 25% of Miami's points. Savannah Pietila was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight steals.
Gilbert Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Miami, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gilbert Classical Academy and San Tan Charter will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. San Tan Charter is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Miami, they will head out on the road to face off against Arete Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Arete Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
