Coleman has gone a perfect 3-0 against Kewaunee recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Cougars will square off against the Storm at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Coleman 3.6, Kewaunee 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Coleman is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Crivitz just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 2-1. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Gavin Pusick put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Pusick wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chadd Gruber, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Kewaunee put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Bonduel by a score of 11-6. Kewaunee's win was all the more impressive since the Bears were averaging only 3.6 runs allowed on the season.
Jackson Walecka tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025.
At the plate, Kewaunee got a massive performance out of Micah Vanness, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Temme, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Kewaunee's victory bumped their record up to 20-0. As for Coleman, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Coleman has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kewaunee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Coleman skirted past Kewaunee 5-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2018. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
