On Friday, Anoka came up short against East Ridge and fell 35-28.
Anoka's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Peyton Podany, who threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Zach Welch, who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
Anoka's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 7-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Centennial and 7-2 Maple Grove (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63% over those games). As for East Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Anoka does not have any more games scheduled as of now. East Ridge is on the road again on Friday and play against Minnetonka. Minnetonka presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Ridge in Minnesota (Minnetonka is ranked 15th, while East Ridge is ranked 90th).
