The Delmarva Christian Royals will head out on the road to challenge the Dickinson Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Delmarva Christian has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Delmarva Christian managed to slip by Laurel the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Royals lost 11-0 to the Bulldogs on Thursday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Royals haven't been shut out since back in March.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dickinson). They put the hurt on ASPIRA Charter with a sharp 23-0 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Owen Nelson and Carlos Ballesteros-Planakis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Nelson tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Ballesteros-Planakis pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Nelson is becoming a predictor of Dickinson's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 3-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). At bat, Nelson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs, while Ballesteros-Planakis went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Nelson a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yosier Aybar Solano, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with six RBI, three runs, and one double. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adrian Ward, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five RBI and one run.
Dickinson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .705. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Dickinson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Delmarva Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Everything went Delmarva Christian's way against Dickinson in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Delmarva Christian made off with a 14-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
