The Heritage Patriots came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Freedom with points to spare, taking the game 54-38. Given Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Freedom is ranked 468th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Heritage found their leader in underclassman Ze'ni Patterson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Livermore, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Heritage pushed their record up to 17-8 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Freedom, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.
Heritage will stay at home for another game and welcome Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Liberty will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Heritage surely won't give up without a fight. As for Freedom, they will head out on the road to face off against Deer Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Freedom is facing Deer Valley at the right time seeing as Deer Valley is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
