St. Thomas Aquinas has gone a perfect 3-0 against Monarch recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Raiders will head out to take on the Knights at 7:00 p.m. St. Thomas Aquinas knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Monarch likes a good challenge.
St. Thomas Aquinas proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 63) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Varsity Opponent 41-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted since December 6, 2024.
St. Thomas Aquinas can attribute much of their success to Virgil Lemons, who rushed for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries, and Julius Jones, who picked up 147 receiving yards and two scores. Jones' longest reception was for an impressive 69 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.
Meanwhile, Monarch got themselves on the board against Coral Springs on Thursday, but Coral Springs never followed suit. They breezed past the Colts to the tune of 46-0. Considering the Knights have won three matchups by more than 37 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
St. Thomas Aquinas better keep an eye on Jeremiah Milcent Milcent. He was instrumental in Monarch's win, throwing for 400 yards and four TDs on only 18 passes. Milcent's passing game has become a key predictor of the Knights' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. A healthy portion of Milcent's aerial production (117 yards to be exact) went to Chris Cortinas, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Monarch has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.3 points over those games. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Everything came up roses for St. Thomas Aquinas against Monarch in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 44-6 win. In that contest, the Raiders amassed a halftime lead of 30-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
