The South Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to West at home by a decisive 46-31 margin. South has struggled against West recently, as their match on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Caleigh Adams was her usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with nine rebounds and six blocks for West. That makes it five consecutive games in which Adams has scored at least a third of West's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Iyanna King mathews, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
South has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for West, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.
South will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for West, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Golden Valley at 6:30 p.m. Golden Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 926th, while West is ranked 420th).
