Calais hasn't had much luck against Woodland recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Blue Devils will square off against the Dragons at 1:00 p.m. One thing working in Calais' favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
Calais will bounce into Saturday's matchup after beating Houlton, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Blue Devils blew past the Shiretowners 20-1 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Isaac Downing and Noah White made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Downing didn't allow a single hit while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. Meanwhile, White pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Downing got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while White went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Theo Mitchell was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brock Collins, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Calais always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Houlton only posted an OBP of .227.
Meanwhile, Woodland lost 19-7 to Bangor Christian on Wednesday.
Calais is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Woodland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Calais came up short against Woodland in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, falling 5-2. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
