The Perkins Pirates will challenge the Northview Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Perkins is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Northview will be up against a hot Perkins squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Pirates came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against St. Edward. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since May 4th.
Zach Cummings looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Perkins' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Quentin Binette, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Binette has posted since back in April.
Northview not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 6th (when they won 10-0). They blew past Ross 12-2. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Little Giants recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Gavin Smith and Charlie Paulson were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Smith tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Paulson tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Smith got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Paulson went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Conner Draper was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Northview: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hayden Daleska, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Northview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ross only posted an OBP of .192.
Perkins' victory bumped their record up to 16-5-1. As for Northview, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
Perkins suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Northview in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Pirates have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
