Softball Recap: Norfolk Has No Trouble Against Columbus

Norfolk won the last time they faced Columbus and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Panthers put the hurt on the Discoverers with a sharp 12-3 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Carlie Brandt spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brynn Peterson was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Allen, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Norfolk was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbus only posted a batting average of .231.

Norfolk's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-18. As for Columbus, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.

Norfolk will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Discoverers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
