Basketball Recap: Central Beats Crystal River for Their Third Straight Victory

Central entered their tilt with Crystal River on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Crystal River Pirates by a score of 49-37. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 61-60 back in November.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavior Haegele, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds. With that strong performance, Haegele is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Marciello Fonseca, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Jake Yost and Ej Jenkins certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Yost posted 14 points, while Jenkins put up eight points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Eddings, who posted five points.

Central now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Crystal River, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Central will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Angeline Academy of Innovation at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Central is facing Angeline Academy of Innovation at the right time seeing as Angeline Academy of Innovation is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Crystal River, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 64-55 victory against Hudson on the 18th.
