The Berkeley Yellowjackets will head out to face off against the Piedmont Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Berkeley will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
On Thursday, Berkeley made easy work of Arroyo and carried off a 16-3 win. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Yellowjackets this season.
Anthony Enrique Sotelo was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sotelo was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases and four RBI.

In other batting news, Akanni Owodunni was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Berkeley's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 3-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Quinton Hill, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple.
Berkeley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Piedmont sidestepped Castro Valley for a 3-2 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Highlanders have posted against the Trojans since March 23, 2018.
Piedmont saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Meyjes, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Piedmont's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Berkeley, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10.
Berkeley came out on top in a nail-biter against Piedmont in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Highlanders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
