Despite 136 more yards than the Vikings, the Rams couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Greene Central might have lost, but man, Dejuan Cobb was a machine: he rushed for 191 yards and three scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Joshua Cetnar, who threw for 120 yards and one TD while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 3.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Nick Avent for the heroic effort on defense: he. Greene Central didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.7.
Greene Central's defensive line didn't let Tyler Jones, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Travion Melton refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. He was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making nine total tackles (2.5 for loss).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ayden - Grifton). They claimed a resounding 42-0 victory over Beddingfield. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Greene Central better keep an eye on EJ Ruffin. He was instrumental in Ayden - Grifton's win, rushing for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries, while also picking up 34 receiving yards. Nygel Morgan was another key player, gaining 67 total yards and two touchdowns.
Ayden - Grifton pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.8 points on average over those games. As for Greene Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
